Davey Ball | Web Designer and Developer
This piece is a showcase of two projects of mine that touch on the perverse nature of the cyber experience. The first refuses it, the second embraces, but both attempt to understand the computerized Esperanza -- more specifically, the language of the Internet -- by recognizing it as a database interface and exploring what possibilities that can grant as well as deny to every participating avatar in "cyberspace".

Deadtech Art Submission: The Cyberscape Perversion

This was exhibited as part of the following show which was curated by Bert Stabler (of the Chicago Reader):
Vulva O'Keefe Versus Angry Goldsworthy
Deadtech
3321 W. Fullerton, Chicago, IL
May 24- June 15, 2008

Curator provocation--

The woman dreams of becoming complete by uniting all of her mirror-clones into a shared future mind of infinite orgasmic speech and perfect functionality. Yet femaleness is the force of dispersal (Knowledge).

The man dreams of achieving lost mastery through re-entering the repulsive womb of the pre-linguistic past, becoming the primal body that bestows life through endless destruction. But maleness is the force of singularity (Power).

This is my premise, and I ask that artists interact with my terms, not that they agree.

Evoking the sticky dyad of Eternally Perverse Primal Father Creator/Destroyer and Infinitely Schizophrenic Future Mother Protector/Disintegrator will be:

Kimberley Baker, Davey Ball, Tyler Britt, Salem Collo-Julin, Matt Davis, Chris Hammes, Taylor Hokanson, Maximillian Lawrence, George Monteleone, Flo McGarrell, Huong Ngo, Andrew Roche, Josh Rosenstock, Chris Santiago, Justin Schaefer, Edra Soto, Matthew Steinke.
